Grant defeated nationally ranked Jefferson HS in front of a sell out crowd and in arguably one of the best OSAA State Championship Game in history. Grant finished last season with a 25-4 overall record, 14-2 PIL League record, #2 OSAA ranking and 6A State Champions.
Grant graduated six seniors including All State Kelton Samore along with key players in Darius Guinn and Damon Hickok. Even with those players graduating, Head Coach Robert Key is excited about his team and ready to defend their title. “Players I will be learning on to carry the team are Ty Rankin, Aaron Deloney and Erik Fraser with a host of role players that will play a significant amount of minutes. Includes transfers Emanuel Steward from Benson high school and LaQuandre Taylor from Jefferson high school.”
Coming into the season, I asked coach to give me one word to describe his team. “UNSELFISH! This year we will be a guard oriented team with a lot of Basketball IQ. Our goal is to return to University of Portland to defend our State Title.”
