Final Score: Pleasant Hill 42 Santiam Christian 28
Santiam Christian had the best player on the floor in Tayla Yost, but it’s hard to not come away from the game thinking Pleasant Hill isn’t the better squad.
Regularly Santiam Christian would stall behind the 3 point arc and have no way to get out of the jam, leading both to east opportunities for Pleasant Hill and forced shots in positions the Eagles aren’t set up to succeed in. Pleasant Hill by no means was perfect offensively, but Santiam Christian certainly had more struggles moving the ball on a consistent basis and creating open shots than the Billies did.
Defensively Pleasant Hill played well, and what follows is not meant to diminish their efforts, but Santiam Christian’s limitations seemingly did a lot of the heavy lifting for the Billies defense. Both are talented squads, but Pleasant Hill—at the moment—seems to have more balance, especially offensively.
