Westside Christian ended last season with an overall record of 5-21, league record 3-11 and #30 OSAA rankings. This year, WC will be playing in a tough Lewis and Clark League that includes Catlin Gabel, Horizon Christian, PAA, De La Salle, OES and Riverdale. Head Coach David Henry thoughts, “I am excited to be joining the LCL, however the style change will take some adjusting to. I enjoyed the style and grit of the West Valley, but am ready for the new challenges the LCL will bring.” Coach Henry’s team only graduated 3 seniors including All League performer Jordan Jun. His underclassmen got a lot of minutes last year and will be ready to compete in the LCL. “Our team will rely heavily on Sophomore Guard Luke Jun, who was a top 5 scorer in the WVL last year as a freshman. Junior Forward DL Scales will also be huge for us down low on both ends of the floor. Our team had a great off-season in the weight room and in the gym. Our kids are excited about the depth we have this year, as well as two Freshmen in Justice Jackson and Landom Thom that I would put against any freshmen in the state.” I asked coach to describe his team with one and his response, “Promising. The reason being, the bulk of the minutes will be coming from underclassmen. We have a lot of young talent, and heady kids, and believe we will get better throughout the season.” Westside Christian team goal, “Our team goals are to adjust to the style of the LCL quickly, take care of business with our non-league schedule, and compete in the LCL. We ultimately believe we have the potential to get an at-large birth to the state playoffs. We believe our window is just now opening, and hope to push it open sooner and prove people wrong.”
