Last season, Riverdale finished with a 9-15 overall record, 4-12 in league and ranked #26 OSAA. Graduated one senior and returned a solid core group of players. The new LCL league includes Riverdale, Horizon Christian, De La Salle, Oes, Catlin Gabel, PAA and Westside Christian. Head Coach Paul Henderson had this to say, “Toughest League in 3a basketball... top teams could play at any level and compete. Great players, and Great Great Coaches with tons of experience and championships.” Riverdale will lean on seniors Clay Pelz, Nick Eubanks and juniors Jackson Grime, Ethan Hill and Isaac Abrams to compete in the toughest league in state. I asked coach to define his team with one word and his response, “Suffocating, our defense was really good last year and I expect it to be better this year.” The Mavericks goal is to “prove the naysayers wrong!”
