OES is coming off a 18-11 overall record, finished 2nd in Lewis and Clark League with a 9-7 record and OSAA #9 ranking. OES finished 8th at the State Tournament as well. Major changes has been made since then including, new Head Coach Edward Kirk, Assistants Juma Kamara, Robbie Long, Todd Mansfield and JD Esters. Lewis and Clark League is a brand new league which includes Catlin Gabel, Westside Christian, PAA, Riverdale, De La Salle and Horizon Christian. “It's a reason why it's the toughest league in 3A. Very good teams with good players and good coaches . Will be a great challenge every league game” said Head Coach Edward Kirk
OES graduated four seniors including All State performer Ian Holzman and All League Colby Bullard. Even with those players moving on, OES has quality players to build upon.
“Sophomore Charles Willmott will be leaned on a lot this upcoming season . Very mature sophomore but he is ready to accept that challenge.
Senior Alex Slusher is an unbelievable leader on and off the court . Princeton commit for Lacrosse and back to back state champion in Lacrosse so that leadership will be key.
Junior Luca Pejovic - Nezhat will be the dark horse and when he is engaged we can be really good.
Senior David Lewis - sense of urgency has kicked in for him and is really focused this upcoming season. “
I asked coach to describe his team with one word, “Enthusiastic. The kids know the uphill challenge this season . The energy has been great and the kids are ready for the challenge. Our team goal is to compete in every aspect of the game and practice. Playing hard all 32 minutes with a purpose and usually when that happens the results will be positive. “
