Legendary Coach Dave Brown feels very good about his final year at the helm at HC. Sadly for us all, he is retiring at the end of this season. His players plan to send him out with a bang and a state title. This is his 13th year at HC and he started the program from scratch and built it into one of most successful basketball programs at any level of Oregon High School basketball.
Key players for the Hawks are senior Kyle Free, a 6 foot wing and possibly the top uncontested long range shooter in Oregon at any level. He is a returning 1st team all wvl. Travis Schiele is a 6-1 senior wing who is a good shooter and better defender. Senior Will Shelby is a 6-4 post who can rebound and defend very well. West Linn transfer Connor Zralka is 6-5 and handles the ball exceptionally well and is one of 3A's top playmakers. Cade Tillema, Dalen Hosely, Josh Thompson and Max Peterson will all contribute to the Hawks squad as well. "The whole team is very hard working, unselfish, and good 3 shooters. Rebounding will be key for us to be successful this year", Coach Brown added. I am thankful to call Dave Brown my friend and was honored to be able to coach many of the HC players including Jordan Tebbutt(26 full ride offers including UCLA), CJ Mitchell(Oregon State), Cameran Egger, Calvin Anderson(NW Christian), Trent Pihas(NW Christian) in addition to his current players Kyle Free, Connor Zralka and Travis Schiele in addition to a couple current sophomores. Also, Wyatt Houston (D1 Football Utah).
