Salem Or,- Dayton and Salem Academy both started slow before Tyler Spink hit back-to-back three’s to push Dayton’s lead to 10-2 with 2:50 to go in the first Quarter. Dayton was playing with a sense of urgency and played a cleaner game early on.

Halftime Thoughts:
Dayton played a fluid first Half relying on Tyler Spink hitting big shots.
Dayton moved the ball well and was patient on offense
CC had open looks from three and open layups but couldn’t capitalize
Dayton outrebounded CC and overall looked like the better team
CC needs to capitalize on open opportunities
To start the second Half Dayton’s Tyler Spink hit another jumper to push the lead to 25-10, minutes later Payton Garrison muscled away a rebounded and extended the lead to 27-10. Back to Back buckets by Justin Morales made it 31-10 with 3 minutes left in the Third Quarter. This game was getting out of hand as Dayton played a great quarter defensively allowing few opportunities for Cascade Christian to score.
Dayton seemed to want this game more from the start and pushed the lead to 36-13 at the end of the Third Quarter. Tyler Spink was the leading scorer with 15 at the end of the Third with Justin Morales and Payton Garrison chipping in 6 a piece. Dayton pulls away in this one to win 45-26 .
This Dayton team looked like a top ranked team with a sense of urgency after a lose to this same team last weekend. Dayton playing really well overall before a few turnovers in a row in the middle of the Fourth Quarter allowed Cascade Christian to go on a little 5-0 run. Dayton needs Tyler Spink, Payton Garrison and Dawson Ashley to be more consistent if they want to make a deep run in Coos Bay, Which we fully expect that they will but they need to have those three playing well consistently along with a strong supporting cast of Justin Morales, Kody Fuller and Benji Hudson to make a splash later in the season.
Last weekend was a fluke with Dayton playing sick and losing to Cascade Christian 41-33. Today Dayton clearly looked like the better team. Dayton rebounded better, shot the ball better and committed few turnovers.
