Dave Henry Brian Morse
The stage is set and we are down to two teams Cascade Christian and Westside Christian will be playing for 3A State Title tonight at Marshfield HS 8:30pm.
Here are a few storylines that you should know heading into tonights matchup..
COACH VS PLAYER..
Westside Christian Head Coach Dave Henry actually played for Cascade Christian coach Brian Morse back in 2007. Following his playing days, he coached at CC for 8 years and then became WC coach 8 years ago.
Last Time These Two Teams Played…
On 12/23- Cascade Christian defeated Westside Christian 57-26. Austin Maurer lead the way with 19 points and Drew Hall had 14 points. WC had to been missing players because tonight’s game will not be this lopsided!
Austin Maurer vs Jonah Jones..
Junior Austin Maurer is no stranger to playing on the big stage as he lead CC to the state title last season and was voted unanimous state player of the year. He is undefeated in the state tournament and looks to keep that streak alive tonight. This is CC fourth straight trip to the championship game and Maurer is looking to even the record to 2-2.
Senior Jonah Jones finished with 29 points and 13 rebounds in the final four to lead WC to the title game. He is a tough match up for anyone because he can score inside and outside. His shooting ability and solid midrange game will be key tonight because it will force Maurer to guard him on the perimeter. Jonah is a state player of the year candidate and is ready to put on a show tonight.
Drew Hall Big Moment Is Here…
Far West League Player of The Year Sophomore Drew Hall could be the deciding factor for Cascade Christian to win the 3A State Title. Drew transferred in from South Medford last season and instantly became an impact player. When Austin went down with an unfortunate injury, he stepped up in a major way and lead CC to an undefeated league record and was awarded League POY. In the quarterfinals, Hall exploded for 27 pts and 7 assts to lead CC past a good Dayton team. He is definitely a player to watch tonight!
Final Thoughts..
Good luck to both teams tonight! This game will feature some really good coaches and some of the top players in the state! I know I only mentioned three players but don’t be surprised if someone else step up and have a big game.
Who will be the Unsung Hero?
