The 2024 Oregon 3A State Championship Game will be a rematch from last season state title game as Westside Christian will face off against Cascade Christian on Saturday night. In most people eyes, these were the top two teams in the state majority of the year. This game has some really cool story lines leading up to this epic battle.
Coach vs Player Round 2
Yes, Head Coach Dave Henry played and coached with Brian Morse at Cascade Christian before landing the head job at Westside Christian. Last year, CC defeated WC 76-54 with Austin Maurer leading the way with 31 points and 14 rebounds. Coach Henry has been thinking about that loss all season long and now he gets another chance to play CC for the title. Can the player pull off the upset over his former HS Coach?
Coach Morse and his Cascade Christian teams are now 2-2 over the last four state title games. He and his coaching staff are masterminds on how to get there players ready to play in crucial games. Can Cascade Christian coaching staff get their players to play a complete game from start to finish? It might take a complete game to defeat a tough WC team.
Austin Maurer final game as a Challenger
All American Senior Austin Maurer will go down as one of the most dominate big man that ever played in Oregon 3A. The University of Grand Canyon commit has dominated the state championship games over the last two years and he will need to do it one last time to achieve his ultimate goal of a three peat. Does Austin have one more dominate performance in him to lead CC to a 3peat?
Avery Huston is not your typical freshman
Avery Huston is averaging 19ppg and he has put the state on notice that CC is not going anywhere after Maurer graduate. He can flat out do it all and college coaches need to pay attention asap! Will the diaper dandy rise to the occasion and help Maurer get his third straight state title?
All Eyes On Senior Dax Hanzlik
Dax along with coach Henry are ready to get revenge from last season lost in the title game. LCL player of the year is ready to leave it all out on the court one last time. Dax is a special player and a full scholarship player at the next level. He will need to do it all tonight to give his team a chance to win the championship. Will Dax have his “one shining moment” and lead WC to the state title?
Notable Players to Watch..

Will Ficker (WC)
Kyler Crites (WC)
Jaren Fronckowiak (CC)
Deryck Farmer (CC)

Final thoughts…
This year state title game will be an all out chess match between two coaches that know each other fairly well and have each other scouted down to the T. Cascade Christian are the heavy favorites but Westside Christian has what it takes to pull off the upset. Good luck to both teams and let’s have an injury free exciting game!
