Around this time last season, Portland Christian season was over and they finished with 2-23 record. They loss some close games and others range from 30 to 50 point losses. Alot of coaches would shy away from programs like this but it takes a coach with a vision and patience to lead them back to their winning ways. Athletic Director Ryan Burnison made the right call by landing former Gresham HS Head Coach Eric Lyslo. He and assistant coach Ben Kittleson return to PC after taking over a 4-20 (0-14 league play) Gresham team and turning them into a top 10 team in the state a few years later.

Today, Lyslo, Kittleson and company lead arguably the youngest team in the entire state of Oregon (6 freshman, 4 sophomores and 1 senior) to the 2023 (2A) OSAA State Playoffs with a 67-61 win over Faith Bible! Portland Christian finished the regular season 15-10 overall and 9-5 in league play.
Several PC players was named All Northwest Teams including;
Freshman Ethan Larner was named 1st Team All League
Sophomore Sam Fundak was named 2nd Team All League
Sophomore Jack Mazurowski was named Third Team All League
Freshman Graham Calhoun was honorable mention
On Saturday, #15 seed Portland Christian will travel to #2 Kennedy in their Sweet 16 matchup and winner will advance to the Elite 8 (held in Pendleton, OR) and play the winner of Santiam vs Gold Beach matchup.
