2019 Salem Academy Holiday tournament is once again a deep field of teams. Teams range from 1A-4A! There are a total of 6 brackets (Black, Green,Silver) and split evenly between boys and girls. Three brackets for both boys and girls.
Below are some key Boys games to watch!
Silver Bracket
OES vs Cascade Christian - 7:30pm at Blanchet Catholic HS.
Cascade Christian is currently 8-1 including an impressive win against Dayton. OES is entering the tournament with a three game winning streak and filled with confidence. The winner of this game will play the winner of Dayton vs Umatilla. Could it be a rematch between Dayton vs CC Friday night? Dayton would sure love another shot at the Challengers.
Black Bracket
Amity vs Nyssa- 4:30pm Salem Academy HS
Nyssa enters the tournament with a 6-1 record with wins over 4A schools and a tough Nixyaawii team. This is a great opportunity for Nyssa to show everyone that they are team to watch out for in the First Round of the State Tournament. Amity enters the field with a 7-1 record with quality wins over Clatskanie, OES and Rainer. All on the road! The winner of this game will likely play a solid Kennedy HS in the second round.
Santiam vs Columbia Christian - 1pm Salem Academy HS
I saw this game posted on OSAA.
This game should be good one with two solid teams coming out of 2A. Columbia Christian are 5-2 and loss two games by a total of 2 points against De La Salle and Kennedy. Columbia is a totally different team from last season but they have some players that has what it takes to compete for another State Title. Santiam is 6-1 and loss a close game to De La Salle. This should be a great game to watch!
Green Bracket
Potential second round matchup between Catlin Gabel vs Sutherlin. Mason Gill vs Jett Shang should be fun to watch. Both players was named All State last season and will look to put on a show Friday. The difference could be 6'10 Jonah Zeller for Catlin Gabel to lead the Eagles to victory. Can Clatskanie crash the party and defeat Catlin? The Tigers are in need of a quality win before heading into league play.
